So Cal
2B would be first choice, Right Field would be second choice as they should be covering throw to 1st to begin with and if 2B falls asleep they could come in and cover.... having pitcher do it is only going to get the pitcher tired... have your coach pitch and then go and try to cover and have a fast dad do the running... bet ya that will change his mind

This is exactly what I want to do:) Coaches don't care for parent involvement, even though they are all parents. It's alright. I guess the worthless drill is good conditioning.

Traditional softball should have 2B cover first and SS cover second here. Unless there are multiple base runners in which case the CF needs to come in to cover second while the SS takes third.
Even though they're 10U now...that's no reason to not teach them the skills they'll need to know tomorrow.

Find a new coach.

The most direct and sensible reply to this post.
If your pitcher's momentum is moving her forward on release,
she will be somewhere around 30' when pitch is hit.
Unless she has bionic legs, she will never make it to 1B

so a question on this situation..

so when a runner is on 1st and the batter bunts, do you have the pitcher cover 3rd or do you have your LF crash?

DD’s current Team has LF covering 3rd and I do not like the look of it. I think you are better off having the 3rd, P or both peeling off to 3rd if they are not fielding the bunt.
