safe in an undisclosed location
Our after practice ritual is a cup of coffee for dad and a frappucino for the girls. After practice last night, the little DD told me she was buying, so she went up to the window at the a Starbucks all on her own. I waited a couple of minutes and went to check on her.

I walked up and just to mess with the Barista I said to DD--"hey little girl, you want some candy?"....The barista looked a little shocked so I told her to tell him I was her father....10 year old DD looked him straight in the eye and said "I've never seen this man before in my life"....I was so proud.

OMG....Too funny! I would've paid good money to see the look on the Barista's face after that comment.

I was that parent. I try never to miss a chance to make my DD's life a living hell, just for my joy:eek:

The last time I was not her parent was her senior year in college we took her and several teammates out to dinner after a game and DD wanted a margarita with her meal and forgot her ID. She told the waitress that we were her parents and that we'd vouch for her. We told the waitress we had no idea who these girls were, they just looked tired and dirty and we'd thought we'd give them a meal.

I hope she finds a boyfriend who is just as disturbed some day. Sounds like he'll need to be.

Great story. Those are the things that make it all worth it.

Hahaha I love the kids embarrassing the parents stories!!

We stopped at Chili's to eat after tournament ended for the day. She was a tall 12 and a little hefty and put away the groceries. So after pigging out we go to leave. As we are walking out the door two couples were walking in. With here gut pushed out as far as she could and in here best redneck voice she says "and I don't even know who the daddy is?!". The look we got from the couples walking in was priceless and I could barely hold it in til we made it to the car. My wife didn't think it was quite as funny though.

JJ - your story reminds me of the time we were having a block party for the 4th of July. My DD just turned 6 years old and was sitting on the curb with her neighbor friends that were about her age. I made some kind of goofy, funny face to her to make her laugh (like I always did) but instead, she stands up and says "Daddy, don't embarrass me in front of my friends!"
