Situation: Fed rules, 2 out, runners on 2nd & 3rd.

Ball hit to left field, who dives for the catch. BU signals catch, PU says no catch/trap.

Which ump has the call and should they be simultaneously opposite opposite calls?

Thanks.

Unless the BU committed to going out on he fly ball, it is the PU's call and the BU should have made no signal or verbal call.

If the BU did commit (turn back to infield is the most common indicator), then s/he owns that call and the PU becomes responsible for all runners for a possible tag-up on a catch and the BR if the ball is not ruled a catch.

Under no circumstance should the be more than one umpire making any call.

Without being there, that is the best explanation that can be provided.
