What’s in your first aid kit?

Spin off- but what do you carry to games.

I’m pretty basic. I have a few instant ice packs, bandaids, gauze, vet wrap, ibuprofen and Benadryl. Plus feminine supplies.

I believe vet wrap can fix most things temporarily- but curious what others pack.

• Sam Splints
• Finger Splints
• Ace Wraps
• Stuff to tape ankles and other body parts:
  • Athletic tape
  • Pre wrap
  • Heal and lace pads
  • Skin lube
  • Pre tape spray
• Kinesiology tape
• Sharks
• Scissors
• CPR Mask
• Plastic bags (for ice)
• Portable tens unit
• Advil/Tylenol/Benadryl
• Hydrocortisone cream
• Individually packaged saline eye drops
• Latex/Nitrile gloves

All fits into a small duffel (actually a cheap gun range bag with lots of pockets). Generally left in the car unless I know there is an issue. If we fly, I take less volume and just toss stuff into a gallon ziplock baggie or two and put it in the suitcase.

This thread and the other one makes me want to go back through it now.

Conversation with a 7th grader back in the spring

her- I just got stung by a yellowjacket. I'm allergic!

me - Ok...are you gonna swell up, or what?

her - I don't know!

me - do you have an epi pen?

her - a what?

**another girls joins in and lets me know that the same girl was stung at another field a week before**

me- Did she swell up?

other girl - I don't know.

me to first girl - Did you swell up?

I don't know! Well, maybe my leg.

me - did it swell up really big?

her - I don't know. No? Just like this. (shows me a circle about the size of a quarter)

me- But you're allergic?

her - I don't know! I think so?

me- What did your mom do?

her - She gave me benadryl.


So, nothing happened. One of the parents left and came back with extra strength benadryl and she took it. I shared the discussion with the kid's mom, and after laughing, she informed us that the kid was nodding off at the dinner table.

Good call. There are classes you can take on this. Stop the bleed I think they are called. Transcends softball.
