Turning the Barrel

I will start it here. Please leave out the medical terms. How do you explain this to a 12 year old girl.
I hear many posters talk about this. Never used the term working with a hitter.

I achieve the path a different way....

If you use it to teach a hitter, please say what you tell them as far as what to do with the hands and arms.
Also any other cues on when they do it.

You can turn the barrel vertical or horizontal, depends on the setup.

I never use the term either.

I just tell them to keep the hands at the armpit, and then snap the barrel at the ball, immediately after the back elbow drops and the shoulders start to turn.

No push, no pull, just hands back, turn and throw.
