When your organization has tryouts do you use a certain template for the criteria in evaluation of the girls? Thank you

We always found it useful to have clipboards and sheets and such. For several reasons:

1. Made it look to parents and girls like we cared and were somewhat organized
2. Allowed us to take notes. Even though tryouts are largely just watching and knowing, there might be lots of girls and jotting down notes can be helpful
3. Having some data to share with the mad parents who don't make the team is helpful. "Well she did score lower than 11 other girls on the defensive part of the tryout."

Our template was pretty simple:

Hitting:
5 bunts. Lay it down well, 1 point. Don't lay it down, 0 points
10 cuts. Line drive, 3 points. Hard grounder or deep fly, 2 points. Weak fly ball or weak grounder, 1 point. Foul or whiff, 0 points.

Fielding:
standard drills. points for fielding and points for throwing.

We had a standard sheet that just helped keep us organized and create some data as well. Everything was scored on a 1-5 basis except running times which were actual. Though that was subjective, I compiled all the evaluators to a single score. It was always good to have notes and comments as well, which helped remember each player. When sitting down to decide, it was more on the comments and what the evaluators saw and remembered, but the sheets gave insight as well. Categories were infield - fielding, receiving, throwing, agility. OF the same but not receiving. Hitting had bunt, power, slap mechanics and contact. Base running had form and turns. Three times home to 1st and home to home. Piching had mechanics, types of pitches (demonstrated), accuracy and three recorded speeds. Catching also had mechanics, agility blocking, pick offs. Three pop times .
