Too Cold To Practice?

If it's not windy, 49 is not too cold IMO. I mean, we've played games in temps right around freezing before. They survived. 49 is way warmer than that. But 49 and windy feels way colder.

If we didn't practice below 49° we would never practice! 49° is a heatwave for spring in this part of the country-we played Saturday in 45° temps with 25mph winds....

In New England, it depends what month it is. It's March, so that means 49 is like 70 and we go outside. However, if it were October, then 49 is like 25 and you go indoors.

I watched Brigham Young play Utah today and it was 36. Full on snow at about the 6th inning.

DD's 12U team practiced outside last night - 41 degrees and breezy. 2hr practice. They were chilly when finished but still smiling!

Early November morning games around here will generally be in the lower 40s. 49 is definitely not too cold. IMHO if the wind chill is above freezing you can be outside. Just make sure everybody wears layers.
