Anyone have experience repairing the welting on a glove?

I found a local leather repair shop and they basically added a layer over top of the section that was wearing out. It was on my DD's catcher mitt at the wrist opening. I had them do that and replace some velcro on the wrist adjustment part and the total repair was maybe 20 bucks. It was pretty reasonable.

That's actually the binding, not the welting.

The only two I know of that handle binding repair is Kenny Jenkins Glove Repair and John Golomb, the Glove Doctor. You'll have to Google them both, I've never used either before.

Only you can decide if the expense is worth it for that glove, it'll have to be fully taken apart for new binding to be sewn back in. Personally I'd keep using the glove as is and really wear it out!

I live 15 minutes from John and he's trying to retire or at least go into semi-retirement last I talked to his wife which was about 2 weeks ago. I agree to smoke the glove by continuing to use it.
