IF the basement was finished I would definitely get a backup pump.

IF the basement was finished I would definitely get a backup pump.
It took the basement flooding three times before I went with the battery powered backup.

We have a backup water powered system. So, if the sump pump stops working, our system kicks in and city water is used to activate a pump to take the water out of the well.
