protective sleeve for composite bats

Just bought my daughter a new bat. Her friend has a protective sleeve for her bat. Are those necessary?

Not necessary, just don't throw it around like baggage handlers at the airport. My DW bought one for my DDs first composite and DD never used it. She's lazy with stuff like that.

If it's a tuff sleeve and your DD hits with the dimpled machine balls USE IT!

She's going to use her older bat in the batting cage. It's lighter than her current bat though. In the off season I'm to get her a cheap bat that's the same weight as her new bat to use in the cage
