A new rule will lead to a new issue. I really don't care what they decide but IMO leaping is easier to call than replanting. So why make it harder just call it by rule.

I agree with this 1000%. Now I don't have to watch to try to determine if ONE foot leaves the ground, I have to watch BOTH feet spread out and figure out which one hit the ground first.

HINT: Umpires are NOT going to call or differentiate between a legal leap and a crow hop if we seemingly couldn't figure the leap out in the first place.

HOT TAKE: This issue is one of the major reasons I have not bothered to pursue umpiring any softball this summer and may move away from it in general. I paid too much money to one org without thinking about it, and haven't responded to any of their requests to umpire.
