There is "learning to play the infield" and "learning to field a ground ball". There is "learning how to play the outfield" and "learning how to catch a fly ball". And, then there is throwing.

The entire team needs to learn how to field ground balls, how to catch fly balls, and how to throw.

My suggestion:

1) 15 minutes on ground balls
2) 15 minutes of popups and flyballs.
3) 30 minutes on "position specific". Break the girls into infielders and outfielders, and then work with each group on the specific.
4) 30 minutes on batting.

New players need to learn the following immediately.

ALWAYS wait for at thrown ball with GLOVE FINGERS UP, NEVER palm up.. It will save their faces.

Learn how to position yourself for a force out. Its the same mechanics for every single base.

Learn how to apply a tag on a slide/non force play. Typically it is straddling the bag. The tag should be applied by going straight down. NEVER reaching out, always down. And make sure the tag is in the dirt and NOT on the base. Coach these three fundamentals as a team at the start of EVERY season. Just kneel down 15 feet from the base and underhand a ball to each kid making absolute certain the tag is snapped straight down and in the dirt.
