Before the girls go back to school, we're having a two day camp for the girls as a team bonding get together. We will work agility and endurance in the morning, do some serious drills, go over plays, have a couple high school coaches do guest spots for an hour each, and then spend the last part of the day playing games. The purpose is to give the girls a great opportunity to start bonding with one another. So we really want the afternoons to be fun.

So I'm looking for some suggestions, either softball related or not. We discussed water balloons, wiffle ball over the line game, cat and mouse on the bases. We've played one game where you have teams of two and the first batter hits off a tee and advances as far as she can. The second batter has to bat her in to score, or the runner is out. The girls really enjoy this game.

Any ideas for 14u would be really appreciated.

Right Here For Now
Our girls really enjoyed the "bucket" game. This entails stacking your ball bucket (with lid), smaller bucket or bag on top and a large powerade/gatorade bottle on top of that. Place them on home plate. Divide your team equally between the 2B and SS positions. You alternate hitting hard grounders between the two teams. They have to run through the balls and throw at the bucket stack. If they hit the big bucket, 1 point; smaller bucket/bag, 2 points and the powerade bottle, 3 points. If they got 5 holed they lost a point. First team to 15 gets a prize...or in our case doesn't have to run a lap.

They loved the competition and promoted solid fielding and throwing accuracy.

at 14u competition is big.

The favorite game at this age was

Queen of the Diamond - Find a wall. Have them line up and throw the ball against the wall and the player behind must field it cleanly and throw. A bobble means your out of the game. It got intense (it was great to do indoors and helped some of our girls who were afraid of diving for balls, because when its a competition we had girls go all out)

Knock Out- split players into two teams, set boundries (like a tennis court). teams face each other and throw the ball into opponents territiors. Ball must bounce atleast once on opponents side. Goal is to try and get the ball past without it being fielded. If you do get it past the line without being fielded that team loses a player. The team which knocks out the other first wins.

Split into teams. One team is at bat, the other is in the field. The team in the field has 1 player start at 1st base, 1 at 3rd base and 1 in the outfield (we typically do a certain spot on the left field line). The batter gets one soft toss the hit and run the bases. The fielding team sprints to the ball once contact is made. The ball has to be thrown to the pitchers mound but must touch all three fielders. One ball is controlled in the pitching circle the runner stops (the total of bases they touched is the score). The girls think of it as a competition but helps teach angles, cut offs, getting to the ball quick and also hitting the inside corner of the bases.
