Double play drill... is it possible?

I just watched this baseball drill and I really need your opinion.



Is it possible to adopt this technique (double play) in softball since according to our under12 tournament rule (in Malaysia), the distance between the bases is just 50 feets?

Yes. If you notice in this video, they are working with balls hit to a location favorable to turning a DP. Turning a DP should be a continuation of a play that starts with getting the lead runner at 2nd, an out at 1st is a 'bonus', but in my opinion should be practiced.

It's good to have them practicing and getting comfortable with this. Then the girls will be keeping their eyes open for the opportunity. doesn't happen often, but as long as they practice it, they understand the reality of making it work.
