Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the student is under no obligation to sign the NLI at their HS.
Does the NLI signing have to be at the student's HS?

No. My DD did it at the kitchen table. They will have the kids "sign" their NLI's sitting at a table while pictures are being taken. Often there will be multiple athletes "signing" at the same time. More for the local newspapers.
And for the schools to look good?
Where would you like to have the signing?
I wouldn't care where it happens, I will leave that up to DD. She wouldn't want it to happen at school.

It can be done anywhere. The actual signing is usually done at the dining room table without any fanfare. It's usually a copy at the signing ceremonies.
The key for DD, she doesn't want to take part is any school ceremonies.
Doing it at the school is purely ceremonial. How about doing it Baskin Robbins and slurping down some ice cream afterwards!

Is it a recruiting violation if the coach pays for a Banana Royale?
I would love to give the local paper a photo of her signing the NLI at Baskin Robbins.
