Ever heard of a chest high drop ball ?
Called many times this past weekend along with high change ups, high curve balls, and bases loaded no out first pitch change ups?

Actually saw this in a high school game this spring. Umpire was not calling anything low at all. From what we could tell, the strike zone was from upper thigh to arm pits. Worked mostly high drops with rise balls and was surprisingly effective with the mix. In the umpires defense, he called it this way for both teams. We adjusted, the other team never did. They continued to throw low and continued to complain about it.

Gotcha. However, this wasn't a reaction to an umpire's zone. It's common place and part of the pitch calling "sequence" this coach uses.

Personally, I like to call first pitch change ups from time to time... especially when the opposing coach has your same points of view..... The whole idea of a change up is to be deceptive and keep em guessing. As far as chest high drops.... not a good idea, but you gotta find blues zone early and adjust, but a rise, screw, or even a fb would have been better than a drop if staying up in the zone.
