Changing local rec ball leagues- Whats your experience?
My DD is currently playing in our local 10U Rec League, and she's doing really well. I would say she is one of the more advanced players. She loves to play, and we love watching her.
Unfortunately our league has shrunk over the years and enrollment is down across the board at all levels. And because of low enrollment we didn’t play many teams this season.
Recently, my wife and I have been talking to her about the idea of moving to one of the other local leagues- they have more players, and we think it would be good exposure to keep learning with more advanced players. As well as the possibility of some better coaches.
Im struggling a bit because shes only 10, I want her to have fun, enjoy the game, and not get burned out on the sport.
I am also struggling because we have grown with all of these kids and families in our league, and we have made some really great friends. If we do go somewhere else, I am going to miss them all.
I know all leagues have their issues/struggles, and I am reluctant to go to a new league where she has to prove herself again to a new team only to find out we are dealing with similar issues that we are facing now. I don’t want to have to put my tail between my legs and come back (grass isn’t always a greener situation)
If we do make a move, we were thinking about trying something new during fall ball before fully committing.
