The batter's box is not a sanctuary. The next rule, 7-6Q addresses interference while in the box.
"When actively hindering the catcher while in the batter's box."


Very true--but not the situation being discussed.
You moved beyond the OP when you gave advice that was incomplete and could easily perpetuate the myth for some that the batter owns the box.

And my tolerance for umps who think its their job to coach the players on the game, and who don't call a strike a strike or a ball a ball because the catcher did or didn't move her glove properly has well past expired.
Actually we agree.
It is not an umpire's job to coach, nor is he obligated to explain judgement calls
If I ever umpired a game where your catcher was pulling pitches you will not know why I called it a ball because I would not tell you or your catcher anything.
Nor will I allow you to argue balls or strikes.
Yes--the game will drag on unnecessarily, but fortunately softball has very precise time limits.
Then again, these issues rarely occur in older, higher level games.
