Simple question(maybe).. Team is jumping from second year 10s to first year 12s next spring. We have been playing scrimmage games and will be playing a couple tournaments this fall. The question is... Is there a run limit per inning at this age, 12u(b).

I was under the impression it would be open but an assistant coach we have played 12u and has stated last season they had either 5 or 7 run cap..

Input please.

I do not think any organization, like ASA, has a run per inning rule. Your local league, or individual tourney, might have a local rule. DD’s league is 6 runs an inning, local rule.

Tournament directors have the right to change, and they do sometimes, like in the fall and there are not a lot of teams, so all teams end up "open" and there are c teams included.

Open, A,B typically: no inning cap, 10 run lead after 3, 8 after 4, 5 after 5.
C: 5 runs per inning cap.

There are many variations among local TDs.

Most ASA tournaments here are 15, 12, and 8 after 3, 4, and 5 innings, respectively. Some tournaments will have a 5-7 run limit per inning on Saturday, but will then be open on Sunday. Some will play a 5up rule, which allows the trailing team to catch up, but then go ahead by a maximum of 5 runs in their inning.

We're playing in a fall league that has a 6-run limit in 12u.

That's what it is here in So. IL, mostly ASA. We do not have any fall leagues here so we are playing "friendly" games with the other TB teams. The tournament fliers don't specify any rule modifications on them.

Just trying to get an idea what to expect.
