Just weird and honestly has to be a first...basically a group of guys sitting around a table that were not there telling the umpire he did not see what he saw...this is very fishy.

I think we all know what they wanted to do which was do what they "thought" was the right thing even though it directly contradicted their own written rules.

Not saying this had anything to do with it, but ...

A couple of months ago, this same board of trustees voted to recommend that the GHSA's executive director step down. The exec. director agreed to resign, although he still had a good bit of support. The board of trustees effectively just overruled the exec. director in this case. The E.D. is a by-the-books guy.

Also, the Georgia state legislature helped pressure the E.D.'s resignation and threatened to take over the GHSA. I think part of what happened here was an attempt to keep the GHSA out of court or to keep the legislature off their back, or to give the appearance that they're more flexible than in the past, which has been a criticism, often one leveled by people who don't understand sports that well or why certain rules are in place.

I'm going to say that this would not have happened 1 year ago. Political situation in Georgia in regards to HS athletics has changed. This was first time that an executive director has not retired on his own terms in the history of the organization.

Newsflash - In an unprecedented and unanimous manner, the GHSA's board of trustees has awarded championship trophies to all Georgia High School athletes.
