Actually.......She's trying really hard to pitch how she instucts.......BUT SHE CAN'T......Watch what happens to her hand from 10:00 to 9:00 behind her........I'm sure she's never looked behind her to see what happens by 9:00........
Yes, I saw that, but her arm ended up doing the right thing from 9:00 through release. Strange, isn't it.

What these two gals instruct is what some meddling coaches who are not the pitcher's actual pitching coach have in mind when they try to incorporate a "fastball for a strike." They see this internal-rotation style stuff (like in the Pauly demonstration) as being not a very good style for throwing a "fastball strike." That is, they simply see this style Pauly is demonstrating as only a junk pitch style. In their minds the arm and hand must do as these two young ladies are instructing in order for the ball to be thrown straight down the middle with a straight down rotation.
Gosh, it sure doesn't take all that much curiosity nor time here on this site to educate one's self in this regard, and put aside such silly ideas.

When I first started taking my daughter for pitching lessons I knew intuitively that what the instructors were teaching was not how I did it when I pitched. I started looking at pictures in the papers first, then I started taking good high speed video (2006) and had visual proof of what good mechanics really were. It's mind-blowing to me that with all the video available the myth of the push down, wrist snap method still thrives.
