I have been working with my DD on the turning the barrel recently or what I consider to be turning of the barrel. I know that it doesn't matter what cue is used for a specific area of the swing as long as both the instructor and hitter are on the same page. During this time my thoughts towards towards turning the barrel have changed form turn the barrel at "GO" to the turn is actually part of the load. Just curious if anyone else looks at it this way or Is that how it has always been I just had an AHA moment LOL.

If you mean that turning the barrel rearward loads the rear leg even more - I would completely agree with you.

Yes, I believe that would be a better way to say it that the barrel turn, increases the load while still being able to check the swing without issue. Is this what some talk about when writing about the resistance goes to zero at a certain point of the turn?

Yes, you got it. And you are correct with the check swings. Easy to check the barrel behind you.

Is that idea similar to what Teacherman shows in a few videos - checking the swing via relaxing / removing tension, vs tightening the muscles to stop the barrel?
