80's baseball video with Tony G, Boggs, and Don Mattingly. Tony G talks about a firm front leg and he doesn't care what his back leg does.

I wouldn't teach that but if he was scrap loading and coiling would he have played in the majors?

Or would he have been a 400 homerun guy?

I love Gwynn, but I'm taking Bonds, Manny, Ortiz, etc over him any day......

I asked the question. LOL. I do not personally think everyone can hit like Manny or like Gwynn. Tony G probably has a better chance of hitting like Manny than Manny does like Gwynn. One of them was pretty good basketball player. He has a video somewhere with a crazy looking bat that leads to leading with hands.

Gary Ward players Pete I. with 46 home runs and Robin V. was consider by many as the greatest college hitter ever, what happens if MLB just lets them hit? Everyone talks about they had to change wasn't as good. Maybe they should have been left alone.

I coached a kid that was offered in the first round out of HS and didn't agree to terms and went JUCO. Wasn't hitting after two weeks and the HC calls and I asked him why did you recruit him, because he can hit. We'll leave him alone. Conference player of the year after that. Goes to the minors and is the #1 rated non pitching prospect. Promised a chance to start in LF if he has a good spring. Leads in batting average, doubles, RBIs, and second in home runs, GM change right before he went to spring and he was told it doesn't matter what you do this spring we are sending you to Double A and making you a lead off hitter (front foot hitter). Never got it back totally and bounced around and up and down for about 10 years.

"Again Rich's pattern works !!! Not the same as Bonds and other elite level hitters." -TDS

I don't understand why you continually post that Bonds gif next to a player who Rich was working with for an hour. That may even be where he is swinging a spatula hitting a wiffle ball....

Anyways....Here is Pedroia lowering his center of gravity when his front leg isn't even on the ground yet. He is clearly one legged, coiled around his rear hip. Can you elaborate on this?

Another center of gravity lowering during the move out. While coiled around the rear hip, front foot still off the ground.....

It has nothing to do with the front foot on the ground.. btw Rich was the one promoting this kids swing but was probably before your time at HI.. Do you see Bonds or any high level hitter who hovers ? None of them pull back (load the scap) as an action while riding the rear leg.. The scap getting loaded is part of the change in direction during the swing.. The pump/barrel tip is used to sync/engage the whole body.. The rear leg is important but should be engaged at the rite time of the sequence of movements, same goes for the scap...

Bottom line the whole body is a sequenced whip of the barrel... Forcing segments of movements out of sequence isn't natural...

Which is why Rich has to contort his rear leg/hip while he practically does the splits for an off-speed pitch.

That is exactly what it looks like Pedroia is doing.........Can you post a gif of one of your players? It seems like your are very passionate and confident in what you teach. That's great. But does it match?

I will happily pick up a bat and try something out......

This is nonsense. Hitting is a violent action. Muscles better be contracted to swing in sequence. Otherwise your weight shifts across.
