Baseball, golf, tennis. football, hockey...... all came along when there weren't a ton of distractions. That's why they have widespread popularity. Mom and dad use to lounge and watch a game with their children. Now we have smart phones. Mom, dad, and children are lounging and surfing the web now. That's a huge game changer when it comes to spare time. Go to any live sports even and look around at how many adults and kids have their faces crammed into their phones.

I find it odd that the chanting and dances are part of college. We do them in Aus but you age out of them. Generally U15 is when it stops.

Wish that was the case here, I can see having them up until 10U, maybe even until 12U in park and rec but they should stop by 10U in travel ball.
When I coached my son's baseball teams the chanting and stuff in the dugout stopped at about 7 years old

You guys don't get it. The softball chants and team spirit in college fastpitch is what differentiates it from baseball and other men's sports. The fact that it's fastpitch, a totally different game from men's baseball, also helps differentiate it from mens sports. The team spirit cheers and chanting give the game life and makes it a more engaging game to watch on both TV and in person. Nothing more boring than a quiet stoic baseball game where you can hear the crickets chirping.

What differentiates the women's sport from the men's sport is that the men have to list their height and weight in their bios and the women just have to list their height.

That and the fields smaller, the ball is bigger, the bats are lighter, the throws are slower so are the runners, the stadiums are smaller and the players spit and grab their crotches a whole lot less....you can watch a game on mute and differentiate it from the men's sport so the chanting and singing are unnecessary racket.

And soccer, soccer is more boring than ANYTHING, crickets chirping, paint drying, fish swimming....would all be less boring than soccer

I only started watching college and honestly hadn’t heard much of the chanting. The stuff before the game and the team cheers are good. But during the game and dances is odd.

Dilligaf, why are you here? It must have been a massive disappointment to you when you found out you were having a daughter. Personally, my daughter plays baseball and softball. She plays baseball at a national level. We went down to Miami a month ago to play in an INTERNATIONAL tournament. You know what? I missed softball. It's more fun with more action. I also LOVE watching women's MMA. Apparently fans do too. So seriously, tell your wife and daughter to get back in the kitchen and leave those of us here that enjoy the sport. Oh, and have a Merry Christmas.

Maybe people like watching women's mma because those ladies list their weight.

Which feature did I list that was untrue, or even negative, other than the pitch perfect auditions from the dugouts? Which I said was my least favorite part of the sport.
Now be a sport and fetch me a beer while you unwad your panties

Wait,, so MMA is ok because women list their weight? Are you serious? Look, I get that women's sports have a hard time ahead of them and that most aren't as popular as men's. The world is changing though, some for the worse, some for the better. You say no one wants to watch women sports and you can't dare bring yourself to watch ANY sport with women in it. You haven't said a single thing good about fastpitch while being on this site. So let me ask you, WHY are you here? Personally, I honestly love watching skilled players play the game. I never would have started enjoying the sport if it weren't for my daughter playing it. Women playing sports, for real, is a pretty new thing. The more girls play sports, the more viewership will grow. If you don't want to watch, that's fine. However, saying stupid sh*t like no one wants to watch women play sports is pure stupidity and does nothing but make you look like a misogynist buffoon.

And sorry, I don't do beer. I go for the vodka.
