I know I am not a parent...but I have to brag on my little sister a little bit.

My little sister made her varsity debut, yesterday and had a great game in a 2-0 extra innings win. She threw all 8 innings of shut out ball allowing 4 hits, striking out 10 and walking 1. No runner reached further than second base all afternoon even though she isn't the speediest or hardest thrower averaging in the upper 50's to the low 60's although she can hit the mid 60's if need be. She also had a great game on offense getting 3 hits in 3 official at bats. She had 2 singles along with a double and she walked once. I officially got 2 hits in 2 official at bats. I had a single, walk-off 2 run home run and walked twice.

All-in-all...an impressive debut. I'm very proud of my little sister. Hopefully, she can remain on the varsity team after pitcher 1 comes back from a stress fracture in her leg and pitcher 2 can come back from being academically ineligible :D.

Nice job to both of you! Sounds like you have a gifted family. Keep up the good work. No matter how it plays out for your sister this year, know that she made the best of her opportunity. Much success to the both of you in the future.

Thank you for the kind words, Chevy! We both had a lot of fun of the field today and I'm so happy she could have a good debut. I'm just hoping that everything works out for her and that she can remain on the varsity team. Pitcher 1 will probably be out for the rest of the season and will probably return during the summer season. Pitcher 2 I don't know if she will be back this season. I guess it will depend on whether or not she can get her grades up to a 2.0 GPA (she's at 1.7 right now). Thank you also for the success wishes, too. I'm still looking at colleges and I was told that I wasn't going to get any offers to play at a D-1 school. I can probably play at a D-2 or a D-3 school.

Good for little sis! One thing though. Those speeds are excellent for a HS pitcher, especially a younger one. It’s just as fast as my DD threw most of HS.

Also don’t let anyone tell you you won’t get any D1 offers. If you can play D2 there’s a good chance you could also play D1. Just have to find the right fit.

Good luck to you both!

Great to hear. I didn't get any sense of sibling rivalry in what you said, that is so nice, and refreshing. Hope my twins can rise to that when they are in HS.

Thank you, MNDad for the vote of confidence. Thing is...she started picking up the position in late November/Early December. She has worked her butt off with her coaches and us doing pitching drills. She's been dominant in JV. I think she had one bad start this season where she got hit around pretty good and lasted like two innings.

I'm still trying to get into a D-1 school. It won't be an elite school...but a decent school. If I absolutely can't get into a D-1 school then a D-2 or D-3 school will be good. I can get an academic scholarship.

Sis starts again, Friday...I can't wait to see how she does in her second start :D.

Oh, we do have a sibling rivalry. If one of us does something better than the other, it kind of eats us alive. We are both very driven and highly competitive. When we're on the same team though, we're good at putting our rivalry to the side for the good of the team.
