Dedication to sb - good/bad? - or just a choice?

I hope so. But based on the experience I have (which is all I can go off of), there are only so many hours in a day and due to work and school schedules, only so many available hours. I would love to see how people balance their lives while doing TB.

Dedication to sb - good/bad? - or just a choice?

I think that's the point of contention. I'm dedicated to my husband and marriage but I also have other interests that don't involve him. My daughter is dedicated to softball in the sense that she loves playing and practices hard in season and takes lessons and still practices in off season but...

Dedication to sb - good/bad? - or just a choice?

I am so torn about this. My DD loves softball. We love softball. But we love to be able to mow our lawn on occasion or spend time in our pool on the weekend and we love going to our church on Sunday and going to a movie or hang out with friends, travel, museums, participate in other sports...

Removing a player from the field

My DD middle school and previous TB coach were both very fond of pulling girls after the first error or two. I think in our situation, it was a nasty byproduct of coaching very large rosters (16-20 girls). And it does affect their performance. The fear of making a mistake and being replaced is...

    Hard Decisions

So it's ok to, in effect, punish a kid because their parents act like jerks when they have no control over that but they can't be held responsible for their own effort? I don't really care for the idea of cutting a child mid-season for their playing performance. Not at 12. But lack of effort...

    Hard Decisions

I get what you (and others who have stated similar sentiments) are saying CoogansBluff. I guess it depends on how detrimental it is to the team as a whole. The entire team should not be suffering because of one other girl--this isn't rec ball or school ball, people are paying their hard earned...

    Hard Decisions

IMHO As a parent, I would want you to be an honest broker. Don't drag us along for the ride, don't have our family sacrificing our time and money for this experience if you are just going to add to the roster and sit my kid out. If she isn't performing, make the best decision for your team...

    Noob question for coaches

lstorie, I did think about that as well. I was kind of in the mindset that if she was going to be on a 15 person roster where the coach described her as being "on the cusp", the odds of her playing would probably be about the same as just practicing without being committed to play games. :)...

    Noob question for coaches

Thanks so much for everyone's input! It's so hard in this area. This team is the only game in town. Other options are over an hour away. I completely understand about taking away from other kids on the team, that was one of my main concerns. I might ask if I can work up the courage but I...

    Noob question for coaches

Hi everyone! Been reading the forum for awhile-great stuff. So I thought I would register so I could ask a few questions. :) I apologize in advance for rambling. My DD just went to her first travel ball 'try out'. She is in the midst of her second of two seasons for middle school and played...
