Xenos are very prevalent in the NW where we frequently play at temperatures in the spring below 50. I don't think it has much of an impact on the Xenos. If a Xeno's going to break, it's going to break regardless of temp because it's usually at the connection point, in my experience. I've...
My daughter used Xenos for the past several years. I got tired of replacing them so I bought a Mako and a SRV4B. At first she was all over the Mako. It is a good bat...but now, she's exclusively using the SRV4B. It's got way more pop. You can get them on ebay for < $150 bucks, too.
Don't forget....
Another option that might work well at that level ( 12U/14U ) is this. I'd use this scenario if the score is close. Go get the ball, take a step or two down the line towards first, make a fake throw and then fire to 3B to catch the runner at 3B off guard and pick her off or...
Here's a good one.
University of Washington Pitcher, Kaitlin Inglesby took one off the face in her 3rd practice at the UW and broke 47 bones. FORTY-SEVEN.
She wears a mask now. ( not the same one the younger girls wear )

I am by no means an expert but two things I'd do with the glove hand.
1) I'd get her pitching with a wall on her left side. She won't be able to swim and will get the point quickly. As a tip, don't try to catch her while she's working through this...let her figure it out first. The richochets...
So for those who have experience with this, what recovery timeframes have you heard/experienced? My question is not to imply I want to rush her back ( no pun intended ) but the recovery plan is being articulated by the Doc who didn't think we needed an X-ray when we first saw him 2 months ago...
Stress Fracture ( Spondylolysis ).
Going for a MRI to see more detail soon.
Timing of this could be a lot worse is the bright side. Dr. is talking about 3 months no pitching, possibly no softball based on results of the MRI.
Thank you all for helping me out with this. Wished we knew to get...
Update!
Daughter had her P/T session today ( Sports MD tomorrow ) and P/T is now theorizing it's a problem with the Facet Joint: ( Facet Joint Disorders and Back Pain )
If it's Facet, then he has a chiro he wants her to see.
-OR- a "spondy" --> Spondylolysis and Spondylolisthesis

Front Side Resistance
What I've been taught and believe in is front side resistance is key to throwing hard. Push out hard, stop abruptly as the arm whips through.
So we've got a P/T appt tomorrow and then an appointment with the sports MD on Thursday to get scans. Thank you, everyone, for taking the time to help my daughter out. I'll let you guys know what we learn...
Awesome stuff guys...
I am going to experiment with her on different landing angles and see what she feels and what the results are. Luckily she pulled herself out last weekend before completely tweaking it so she's still ready to experiment.
I've been watching her landing over and over in...
She is a stud...have seen her pitch for several years. Fantastic pitcher and she can hit the snot out of the ball. She's headed to BYU I believe. I coach one of the gold teams for our org, it was the other that faced her probably.
I am with you, and that's what I thought I was doing going to an MD and then being referred to a sports P/T clinic. What I'm most interested in is whether a chiropractor needs to be brought into the mix and I appreciate the device to go back and get scans, etc.
Pitching Style
She goes to Mark Anderton in Auburn, WA for her pitching coach.
Here's a video of her pitching: ( back in Sept ). She has since fixed her pivoted push off, but drives out fairly upright.

We have not tried new shoes...hmmmm. She uses the light ringor metal cleats. She did change to those shoes from mizunos about 6 months ago. She's got the same pitches, no change there but curve seems to be the one she's most concerned about but I think that's mental due to the pitch she...
Hi guys,
From time to time I've posted some stuff regarding my daughter and I've always received great advice. I know many of you have daughters or coach girls that have had back injuries.
Back 6 weeks ago she had a pop in her back during warmup for the first game of an exposure tournament...
