Tournaments or leagues for over 18+

I wrote to Island Fastpitch last year and nobody responded. I will try again. Given the lack of good options, I think I may have to create a league or tournament myself. Setting up the event is doable. But finding the fields for an outside event is hard. Its so tough to find softball...

Tournaments or leagues for over 18+

Hi all, I posted something similar last year so I am checking again in case something new popped up. My daughter's team have all aged out of travel ball but they want to play in the summer. Are there any fastpitch leagues or tournaments for adults near the NYC/Tristate Area? Even a little...

Looking for a I/R pitching instructor near Myrtle Beach for a college pitcher

Ha. I guess that's the new term for an old concept... Forearm Fire, Palm Up, etc. funny.

Looking for a I/R pitching instructor near Myrtle Beach for a college pitcher

Noob question... what does "I/R" stand for?

    Whats after 18U?

LMAO! Yes. I share that sentiment. Interesting... We know Island Fastpitch. I will contact them for more info. Thanks for the tip.

    Whats after 18U?

We saw a lot of senioritis even at 18U so i can imagine. I think I may try starting a pick-up game event and see what the interest looks like.

    Whats after 18U?

Where are you located? I did some googling and couldn't find any near where I live... NYC Tri-state area.

    Whats after 18U?

My DD and her 18U team are playing her final travel tournament next week. My daughter will play in college but for players not playing in college, is this the end of their fastpitch journey? I saw that there's a 23U recreational league for baseball. Do leagues like that exist for...

JV - path to Varsity or dead end?

A Varsity coach will look for quality players whether they come from JV or not. So the real question is, is your JV team preparing the players for Varsity? Does your community support fastpitch in general? My neighborhood does not unfortunately. They barely tolerate fastpitch and favor...

In need of bucket parent 101

I would suggest bringing the bucket when DD is fairly consistent with her pitches and spotting. If she's still wild, the bucket causes more pain (literal physical pain) for you. Some pitches are harder to catch when you're on the bucket. Low drop balls around the edges are really hard in...

    The Wrist

This is the first time hearing about "no wrist snaps." Seems a little counterproductive. Wrist snap IS needed to generate spin on some types of pitches. Not everyone throws them the same way but many pitchers employ at least a little snap for rise-balls and curveballs. My daughter's...

USSSA Nationals in Salisbury, MD 2023

Interesting. That explains why many of the teams from last year had losing records. Thanks for the tip.

USSSA Nationals in Salisbury, MD 2023

Thanks for info. Very helpful. At first i was disappointed about playing on turf in the summer but after thinking about it, I'm not sure it's worse that playing on sunbaked hard clay. At least on turf, we get truer bounces. Hmm. Hot field vs lumpy field... :)

USSSA Nationals in Salisbury, MD 2023

We are thinking of registering for the USSSA Nationals 18U in MD this coming summer. Looking for any general advice on housing, activities, and food. Also, I read about the $600 housing waiver, which is wacky. Did your families stay over at the sanctioned hotels or did you pay the waiver...

    Forward lean at release struggles.

If she's new to pitching, then i would assume she is struggling with more than just the lean. I would recommend that the lean be addressed later. For new pitchers, i would recommend you focus on building a good snap, staying on the powerline and driving with her legs. Without these...

    Catcher’s Thumb Consistently Hurting

Catcher's thumb is the worst! Sorry your kid is going through that. I have it as well from being a bucket dad. It hurts like heck. One of my catchers also had a tough time with that. The goal is to keep the thumb from bending backwards. Two suggestions: 1. Get a new mitt with...

    New to the Softball world

At such a young age, the most important thing is to build love of the sport and a bond between child and parent. Rec ball is perfect for that. They get to play with their friends in a non competitive setting and see how proud the parents are of them. Any talk of future that includes better...

    Opening an indoor facility

I did in-depth research on the same thought. In my area, rent was too cost prohibitive for this idea to take flight but heres my summary: 1. Insurance: Easy. Many companies offer facilities policies. 2. Waivers: Easy. Insurance companies will provide templates and then you work with an...

Insurance coverage for 19yr olds in 18U?

I have not seen it but there may be some negotiations between the insurance companies to split up the coverage money. My guess it's similar to what happens in a car accident. The two insurance companies try to get on a call to agree on percentage of "fault" and split up the coverage money...
