We’re already into the rekindled “interested in pitching again” phase. She learned to pitch, pitched for a couple of seasons, quit pitching for a couple of seasons, wanted to start pitching again, and now has a new pitching coach, and is pitching again. Now she’s old enough to realize “I should...
OK, maybe I should have stated ”online live lessons.” I may have used the term “virtual” a little too loosely. So far, we’ve had in-person pitching coaches who have had some college pitching experience. We haven’t been able to locate a former pitching star at any level in our area for in-person...
The past few seasons, I have slowly grown away from PAC12 football. I'm sure a few sports equipment suppliers and networks are in the $$$$ mix with this change. 😆 I presume revenue will be guided exactly where it's intended to go. It should be interesting.
For infield play: forhand and backhand drills that involve efficient footwork will set up better ball transition from glove to throwing. The idea is to get to the ball while keeping a balanced CG. The first step (pun) is critical. The transitions for lefthanded infield players is a bit slower...
Oh man, coaching is lots of fun when you have a good group of kids. I haven't seen any masculinity battles, yet. The SafeSport certification material gradually increases every year and some of the content is bothersome. Also, I have noticed some parents grumbling about increased org registration...
These are the same kids whom will ask late in the season, “Why can’t we win any games?” It’s a head shaker. Having coaches with high ball IQ helps tremendously.
This is a great topic and glad you mentioned it. We have a player the same age who has been experimenting with pitching for 3-4 years. She’s had a few pitching coaches, so we’re in tune with the evolutions of that situation as well. We’ve experienced many different levels of commitment in both...
In conjunction with rule changes, technology changes, PEDS, and sports politics, “farther, faster, stronger” has been a continuous foreword progression, maybe until now, right?
Sounds good. I’ll throw some questions your way. We only have a couple of weeks remaining in our current season, but we come up with one head scratcher question regarding fastpitch rules, weekly. Most of the time, we have a pretty good idea why a call is made once we analyze it, but sometimes...
Not even two umps can catch everything happening on the field. Rec games are great practice for everyone. Video seems to be very helpful in many instances. The greatest ump annoyances seem to happen during games outside of rec ball. Once again, video evidence helps. At this point, maybe an...
The beaches in and around San Francisco are packed. It’s mostly groups of teens and 20-something’s going crazy on cheap suds. No one is enforcing the laws at the beaches, so no one is following the laws. However, softball has not yet returned - darn the bad luck. lol
The pitching machine has got to be the best thing since sliced bread, even if all you got is a fastball machine - use it!!! 2-3 times per week. Totally builds batting confidence.
