    Too much down time in the hitting and fielding sections, title screens too long as well. Hitting should be longer than fielding section. And your daughter should watch this video.

    Seems like she went crazy when the catcher ran into her to get the ball (which to me looked intentional, the catcher was probably a bit annoyed that the runner made contact on the slide and forced the drop).

    Most of what you said (and your original post) applies to both the 2nd baseman and SS. You do make a good point about running away from the play vs into it. It's definitely easier for the SS vs the 2nd baseman to get in good position if they are equally far away from the bag.

    Exactly, I think most people here as vastly overestimating the skill level of almost every pitcher in softball. You wouldn't see 9 hole hitters with a ton of walks in D1 P5 play if pitchers could throw meatballs on command.

    Seems like you know what she should be doing, but I'm guessing she probably isn't actually doing all of what she should be. My only other advice would be to get low and get a lot of body in front of the ball in case of those bad hops.

    I see a lot of condescension in your post, that is a bad thing and doesn't make your argument correct. A substantial percentage of hits, even at the elite D1 level, are not well struck line drives. That doesn't mean the defense is making a ton of errors, they just can't cover the whole field.
