recently we held a bake sale/car wash for our LL team and made over $1200 which was great! what else have you done that you'd like to recommend?
we are thinking about holding a raffle and raffling off an object like a quilt or something
but one half-way alert catcher and it's an out. OR coaches doing their jobs yelling "tag the runner"....im not saying it isnt an interesting play though-i love stuff like that
"spice up a boring practice drill"! please add the age level(s) you use them for...
couple we use:
"find the grass game" basically like playing real ball or intrasquad scrimmage) with a couple caveats; if a batter hits the ball to the grass (past the infield) in the air it's a homerun, batter...
in my opinion that throws logic out the door - haven't those shmoes ever heard the expression "fits like a glove"?
ones preferred glove just feels right
please dont be shy.......o, & don't worry, your competition already knows what drills you do (they spy your practices) >:-) so go ahead and list 'em....;-)
i know there are some really good coaches on this board, tryin' ta tap your brains here-also, parents, what drills do your gals rave about...

personally i think the article should be taken with a grain of salt, not every tryout will be hardcore, each team is different, my advice is, try your best, be attentive and courteous and the rest will take care of itself
11. Parents - behave
We all should know by now that when a kid comes onto a ball field and does something of the underperforming variety, most people do not look back at the parent and think, "I wonder what's wrong with those people that they produced a child that bad." Most of the time, people...
8. Stay after the ball
A ball was hit by the coach way far away from the intended fielder at a recent tryout. The kid was stationed in right and the out of practice coach hit a screaming liner to center. He was supposed to hit pops to right and was somewhat embarrassed when he crushed one to...
5. Confident and friendly, not a social butterfly or an anti-social hornet
I think one of the things which is least understood at tryouts is the social aspect of things. It is generally understood, I believe, that coaches are not merely looking for the absolute best athletes. They want good...
Before I even consider a kid for a team, the first thing I look at is throwing mechanics. Without them, there is little I feel I can do. And I know kids who throw badly are going to miss lots of practice time, perhaps games. When you tryout, please try to keep your mechanics together and throw...
tips for tryouts:
1. Don't play catch:
At a recent tryout, I heard the coach admonish the girls, "you are not playing catch here, you are being evaluated!" That's an important piece of advice that most coaches will not offer at tryouts.
When you are throwing back and forth at a tryout, you...
i have seen some of the worst pitching ever so nothing amazes me with control issues. plus one of my players has AMAZING meltdowns to boot
so i feel 4 ya
things will get better, just have to keep believing in ourself and your system
daughter is 11, we have played around 40-50 games each of the last two years.
i think it might be more important to keep in mind the number of innings (or maybe even hours each game takes) played in a lot of our cases. Little league games are long (we use true LL to play league games) and usssa...
