    "Positional Hitting"?

Has anyone seen this site or used his tools/references? The guy's name is Jaime Cevallos and his site is: Swing Mechanic Baseball Hitting Training Aids. He has a training bat and a book detailing what he calls 'positional hitting'. Always looking for ideas & resources, but in this case - I...

    Is this illegal?

I don't have much experience coaching pitchers. Kid on my 14U little league team does this: Brings the hands together (presentation) and as she starts her throwing hand moving back by her side, also takes a step back - off the rubber - with her stride foot. Then does her stride/windmill. I...

Curing the beginner 'shot put' throw

I have a beginner on my DD's 14U rec league team who shot puts the ball when she throws. I've tried everything I can think of to train her to lead with the elbow as the weight shifts from back to front. Nothing is working. Any drills, cues, tools, anything to help cure this? Appreciation...

    Committment & conflicting interests?

Many thanks for your insights, folks. Lots of smart people hanging out here and I've learned from your wisdom and have shared with DD's mom. She still has a fairly negative opinion about youth sports in general, but I understand where she's coming from - just wants the best for our kid and...

    Committment & conflicting interests?

Thank you everyone for your insights. Sorry this drifted so far off topic . . . I do think it's a useful discussion and something we all need to talk about as we try to keep things in their proper perspectives and do what's right for our kids & families. I will point out to that last post...

    Committment & conflicting interests?

Thanks Ray for some excellent points. I agree with most, although I would argue that my wife and I are not control freaks, which is kind of what you seem to be hinting at - seriously, we're doing our best to let our girl lead us where her dreams want her to go, and we're trying to follow...

    Committment & conflicting interests?

Thanks calgofo and Amy in AZ for pointing out some inaccuracies in the anti-softball argument. I agree, as long as the daughter has fun doing it, why not? Lots of good life lessons to be learned from softball as well as in the classroom. Well, the debate will continue in our home.

    Committment & conflicting interests?

Thanks everyone for your thoughts! We are trying so hard to find the right balance for our girl, but ultimately, it's her life and her choices that will determine her path. We parents can provide a structure, values and boundaries, but our kids are their own people and it's their interests and...

    Committment & conflicting interests?

New here, informative forum. Here's my situation and question: We have a 13yo (14 in Sept) DD who has until now played little league (which only adds up to 14 games a year in our league) and middle school ball last year (entering 8th grade in Sept.). My wife and I have had an ongoing...
