How much time after their last game of the season should you wait before contacting a college coach?

If the D2 or D3 team doesn’t make the playoffs, their seasons are pretty close to being over now. If they are in the playoffs, they’ll be finished in a few weeks.
I’m thinking after the season is over, the coach will need some time to chill. Reset, catch up on email and take care of personal business that they had to let slide during the season.

My question is how long should you wait before you resume contact with them?

You shouldn't wait. My DD sends a "good luck with your game against XXX today" emails all the time along with updates on her games/season . The D2/D3 coaches & assistants send "Thanks" emails all the time. If they don't read it, they don't read it. They will get to it eventually or go back to see previous emails if they read a more recent one that draws their interest.

After their season, most coaches take a day or off then do all the end of season activities with the team and then start to finalize their summer recruiting/camp schedule and focus on their recruiting plans.

Not sure about D2 or D3, but I think D1 coaches are in a "blackout period" until the end of the WCWS.

Not sure about softball ball but I don't think coaches take much downtime immediately after season. I know football and bball coaches also make recruiting trips from bowl games and tourny

Thanks- I wanted to make sure she wasn’t becoming annoying. She never heard back from this coach last summer so I didn’t know if there was a window of time that it was best to leave them alone.

It's really hard to tell sometimes. DD emails her future college coach every couple of weeks. Sometimes she gets a reply in a matter of minutes. Sometimes she doesn't get one at all. Every coach is different...

DD does the same. Sometimes she initiates the contact sometimes the coach does but it’s different if you are a committed senior.
Is your DD going to this school in the fall and trying to get on the team? I’d expect at this point even if the coach answers and sees her play she would probably still have to tryout in the fall. At least that is what 2 of DDs friends have to do (both verballed elsewhere and changed their mind over the winter)

The school my DD is going to does not offer any guaranteed spots (at least that is what the coach told DD). Everyone has to try out in the fall. She has met the coach numerous times and the coach has seen her play. DD also attended several clinics that this coach was at. She received several guaranteed spots from other schools, but this was her #1 academically. She is willing to bet on herself to make the team.

Yes shes a senior and will be going to the school this fall. The coaches style of recruiting is very different- not a whole lot of response to emails (none till october) from what ive been able to find out, i think she goes strictly by tryout in the fall. Fortunately, dd met her at the softball convention at Mohegan Sun in January and they hit it off, so the coach knows her and knows shell show up in the fall. I want to encourage DD to start in with the steady stream of regular communication over the summer because with her 2nd surgery in the middle of june, she wont be in great shape by the end of August when they “report for duty”. So she needs to impress coach with her knowledge and dedication.

DD is also a senior headed to play in the fall. She has contact via text with the HC and the AC about once a week. They don't have a huge roster and, at the moment, only have five incoming freshmen.
