What is the best bat on the market?
A lot of college power-hitter types use SP bats to GET the extra weight. If your swing is connected (meaning you are basically swinging with the body, not the arms), the extra weight doesn't affect quickness or bat speed much, if at all. And helps at contact, obviously. I agree. As I said, it ISN'T alarming IF the hands remain proximate to and at about the same height as the rear shoulder (vertical rear forearm is manitained). It isn't uncommon IF the hands are still proximate to and near the same height as the rear shoulder (meaning the rear forearm is vertical). It's pretty uncommon for world-class hitters if that rear forearm ISN'T vertical. And personally, I would say that a hitter does this at her peril...- ssarge

Hitting with backspin- Fact or Fiction?
I agree that the physics concludes relatively little additional carry from imparting backspin (and into the wind, it may be less). Plus it is astronomically more prone to timing error to swing down to a downward moving pitch in order to try to hit the bottom 35% of the ball and create backspin...- ssarge
