What I am seeing
when I look at the video is the batter drops his hands from above his shoulders to below his chest. This is the concern I have with my players' swing in that the path seems longer and slower due to the hands dropping then rotating toward the incoming ball.

I am trying to say that before the forward turn/rotation occurs hands are dropped to get inline w/pitch. That is why I was using the triangle analogy. I am trying to express that the path of the bat is going down and then forward as opposed to forward and down on an angle or...

If you are 2.6 or better from home to first you can get wings and take off! I agree that being versatile is critical as well as being quick/fast. How many 2.6 runners do you see, much less a sub-2.6?
