    Chelsea Thomas - Change v.Fastball?

Don't you know there are no fastballs thrown after 14U:rolleyes:

    Weekend roundup

I looked up Arkansas stats and they are dismal offensively. They have one player hitting over.300, and then team BA is .236. On top of that their lead-off hitter is averaging 3.28 AB's per game. That tells me they are not getting very many base runners. Having played 47 games they have 0nly 4...

Chelsea Thomas's stress fracture caused by throwing too many riseballs

I'm going off memory, but I'm pretty certain last year the information coming out of Mizzou was that her injury was not pitching related. Maybe they were trying to dispel all of the rumors that her velocity caused her injury. After seeing the OU vs Mizzou game it is evident that she has really...

Fee intended to help support local leagues

The story says 80% must be from the local leagues to avoid the fees. Sounds to me like the local league is worried about losing their players and wants to restrict use of the fields as a way of preserving their $$.

    Struggling with the drop

Drop Many years back Paul Nyman, Setpro, did a computer simulation that showed that at a certain point the spin cannot overcome the angle of the pitch. In other words their was a certain degree of up that spin could not over take. I lost it with a hard drive crash sometime back.

D1 - Do they always leave base early?

Why am I not suprised you missed the point

D1 - Do they always leave base early?

Brittany Rodgers from Alabama made a living leaving early. At the '09 WCWS she was called out 3 times for leaving early. Blue missed her leaving early more times then when she was called out, one of the occasions she wasn't stealing, just and explosive jump off of the base. Several others have...

    How To Improve Leg Drive

What makes you focus on leg drive? What ages are you working with? The number one way is core work for the older girls. Long toss will build drive also.

    Give Up The Fast Ball?

While you hear this statement all of the time, I don't think it is all that true. Over the last several years I have heard interviews with winning pitchers after the game talking about their pitching selections during the game. Texas A&M pitcher Amanda Scarborough was touted by Michelle Smith on...

D1 - Do they always leave base early?

I find this whole thread interesting. Why are they not demonized and railed against as "CHEATERS" like the pitchers? Slappers are out of the box, the rabbits leave early and pitchers leap. They are all trying to gain an advantage, but only the pitcher is criticized and called out and labeled...

    Radar guns

Pocket Radar My daughter's college coach was showing his pocket radar at at tournament yesterday. He felt that it read 1-2 mph quicker then his juggs gun but was easier to carry around. It looks the same as the dad that was standing behind the back stop filming his DD pitch, looked the same as...

Current State of Softball Swing vs Baseball Swing

This reminded me of an old encounter I had at a ball park and gave me a chuckle. My DD started hitting balls out of the park at 13, first year 14u. We were playing in a tournament and a team was warming up right behind our dugout. The coach was doing soft toss and going on about a level swing...

Current State of Softball Swing vs Baseball Swing

For those of us that have been around several years, this argument has been never ending. Way back when I started, I bought into the difference in the swings. What I have learned over the last 10 or so years is there isn't any difference in the two. While your numbers are probably correct, what...

How do we achieve "wrist snap"?

I know it is a good thing, and it shows good IR mechanics. This is the picture of the arm circle of the same pitch. The elbow is almost locked out allowing for very little whip at the bottom, that is where my not a model pitcher comment came from. She is on my daughter college team, and she said...

How do we achieve "wrist snap"?

I think "Flip" and "wrist snap" are confusing terms especially when you add in the turn the ball over push down and wave mechanics. Maybe try some speed work to get her competitive. This girl wouldn't fit under the Model Pitchers thread, but she throws the ball extremely hard. She is almost...
