I had my first run in with similar situation when my oldest DD was in dance. The practices were closed to the parents except for a small window we could watch through (like looking in a fish aquarium). The 3 weeks before recital it was completely closed to parents; and she was only 4 at the...
Our LL had coach-pitch after 4 balls for 1/2 season in the minor league. I wish they had kept it the entire season because it just gets to be a walk-fest. It doesn't benefit the kids in any way; they learn to leave the bat on their shoulder, the fielders lose interest, the whole thing goes to...
- Base Running Race (home and 2nd starting positions)
- Players at Short and 2B, hit grounders, they have to field clean and try to either 1.) knock ball off tee on home plate or 2.) throw into the Bownet (Big Mouth) -- only reason for SS and 2B is quicker between girls, can ramp up the speed...
Not to mention you have to stay mindful of rules differences between ASA (or similar) and LL... some of them are quite different (base running and dropped 3rd strike or others). I don't think LL condones or "wants" teams to do this, but I can't see where there's anything wrong with organizing...
I'm not sure what she was all up in her business about on that particular play anyway? It was good defense and correct calls. UNLIKE their first game with LSU that should have ended with the opposite score than it did on bad calls by that home plate ump (safe slide and obstruction later)...
Update.... We finally got the glove usable, but wow what a break-in period. I still don't think it's really completely broke in, it's just usable. I worked it, beat it, bent it, and played a lot of catch with her... She appreciates it, and takes care of it. Great glove and...
We've had it for a few weeks now, and I'm still in this boat... I'm trying like hell to get that thick palm pad to loosen or flex enough for her to be able to close it... Quality for sure, but dang! I'm trying like crazy to form the right fold over spot or crease as well so it goes...
We got our Vinci in! We went with the BV1929-L. It's high quality, no doubt. It's VERY stiff - even I can't close it yet. We have our work cut out for us to get this broke in and ready for play. I hope to have a better review after we get through the break-in process!
Good points, but hard to teach, especially to 10 - 13 year olds... Some have the attention span of a fruit-fly and about that much memory. Skull sessions at this age are not always as effective as they can be with older players (at least in my experience). It's great to talk about these...
Resurrecting this thread... I liked a lot of the suggestions, and would add a few points that we worked on with 10's and 11's this year:
1.) infield hit, race to beat the throw at first - focus on first base from the time you start running; amazing how the body works and auto-adjusts to tag...
I have one ordered and on it's way for my DD.... I'll have to get her review on here once we get it in hand and in the cage...
Thanks for starting this thread.
Oh NO!!!! I just (literally less than 1 hour ago) pushed the button on ordering my DD a CF8 Slapper... Oh well, we'll have to deal with it I suppose...
What do y'all use to keep the EZ-Up down on windy tourney days/weekends?
Stakes aren't always usable and can be a pain to pull out.
I've seen the PVC w/ sand or quickcrete, but bulky to travel with when the back of our SUV is already packed down with gear, EZ-Up, ice chest,...
I saw...
Get your mind out of the gutter...
Topic - Opinions on 12":
1.) Best game day ball
2.) Best practice ball (less expensive)
3.) Best source/vendor/supplier for both
Now tawlk amongs' yourselves...
Thanks
Thanks again to everyone for the discussion!
I finally bit the bullet and went to Drakemir for a Vinci (BV1929)! I have to admit that I tried for days to get one of the Worth Liberty Advance gloves, but literally everyone only had LHT, there were no right hander gloves...
So now is the...
