Make the best of the situation. This is a tremendous opportunity for your DD to focus on her Pitching. So make sure she is focused on making a skill better rather than focused on what she isn't getting to do.
Then when the season is over, inform the coach. Not informing the coach or misleading...
So good, involved parents don't need help? I must suck as a parent because I took all the help I could get to keep my kids off drugs and not pregnant. I used our church, school counselors, role models.
I know numerous parents that believe drugs aren't a problem in our schools. Many of their...
In Illinois, a District cannot drug test all students. A student is guaranteed access to education so there is no punishment for a student to fail a drug test so it is a waste of resources. Athletics (Or any extracurricular) is not a right, it is a privilege. So extracurricular participants can...
2 years ago, I challenged my 17 yr old to a sprint during HS indoor practice. I beat her easily and talked smack the whole way. Like Retired Coach, I am a former track athlete.
The problem was she was ready to go again in about 20 seconds. My recovery time was measured in days. :(
From a defensive coaching standpoint, I fear slappers more than anyone else. Big hitters? Eh. So what. The hit a ball in the gap and double? So what? No pressure is on the D. They are usually stationary until someone can put the ball in play.
But a slapper? My entire D tenses up. They get on...
That's why President Obama cleans his own toilet. Because if he made someone else do it, it would be bullying. There's no possible other answer. He even washes his own car, right? Changes all the ink cartridges in printers? Or it could be he delegates to someone else.
Freshmen carrying ball...
The credentials to coach in HS are a joke. But they are much more detailed and refined than TB. To coach TB, one must prove they are not a molester. No class or fogging a mirror. Nothing. Just not a molester.
At least in the state of IL.
I am looking for anyone that has a document they hand out that covers expectations, rules for behavior, etc that they share with team and parents. Anyone have a document they would share with me?
I can't imagine that either. But I have turned some players away that thought they were 18G. Even though they were truly Rec in skill level, knowledge and maturity. Their parents were less than amused.
Unless you happen to be the coach that is getting publicly bashed by an adolescent (parents, friends, ???) for nothing. If I was the coach, I wouldn't hold her TB experience against her. But I sure as heck hold her responsible for taking her drama public and bashing the staff.
I doubt many...
So is there anything factual to base this thread on or is it just teen drama?
OP says it seems the squad is set. So lineup cards have been posted on Facebook? Uniforms have been given out? Or is this just an opportunity to bash coaches before they even show up for work? Based on???
I am not going to address the OP, but I will give a little perspective from someone serving on a School Board.
While everyone here has never witnessed this, coaching HS sports is not always as desirable as a winning lottery ticket. In our district, and many local ones, we are lucky to get even...
The above suggestions are probably best if you have an organization behind you with Tax ID's, etc. But if you are an individual team, the Bank will want someone's SS# on the account. Separate account is potentially a team expense for what, in my experience, was about 4 deposits and 10-15 checks...
But at least this coach is being honest with them. Would you rather try out for a coach that promises everything at tryouts? Then fails to provide.
Would you rather become the best pitcher on a bad team or the worst pitcher on a good team? Realize this is only 12U and noone will live or die...
