Point being conversation on adjustments in game for more balanced competition
Is the "competition" less balanced now? For the most part the best pitchers will still be the best pitchers and the best teams will still be the best teams. I don't know that there is a magic number of runs scored per game which makes the game the "best".

Here is what I will say. The one thing I don't like, and I have mentioned this before (and I think you sort of disagreed), is that pitchers should be rewarded for inducing bad contact (not squaring up a ball) which (IMO) doesn't happen a lot now with the combination of bats/balls and fence distances. Don't know if changing the pitching distance will effect that.

Is the sport balance just ongoing discussion. some people say there's too many home runs some people say it's okay stuff like that.

How the bats are so hot the Batters have an advantage that kind of conversation.

That's interesting pitchers rewarded for inducing bad contact... don't recall that topic conversation..

I think you said something about how could it be "bad" contact if it goes over the fence..or something like that. Maybe I am misremembering..

?No don't think it would be bad if somebody hit the ball and it went over the fence. However that discussion sounds like it could pertain to even a bad swing could produce good results with the way the game sits now that's why I was kind of talking about bringing up discussion on how to balance that out what has been discussed as it's too easy to hit home runs.

Bad swing or a good swing can produce a home run but...
if change the element of time making a decision, make it harder for batter.
less time to make a decision can impact how often contact is made.
Just for discussion

What I am saying is that a swing that produces not great contact can still result in a bad result for the pitcher. Of course that happens with bloop hits, etc. so... 🤷‍♂️ That won't change with a closer pitching distance.

No my point was that if you want to lower runs, which I don't think you need to do, change the ball/bat/fence specs and not the pitching distance.
... well that has been discussed and so threw this into the Ring of that discussion...

As an aside, baseball did something to have opposite effect in 1969 when they lowered the mound. The year before Bob Gibson had a 1.12 ERA and the Denny McLain won 31 games (last 30 game winner).
