Does this look right? I wasn’t filming with some hi speed camera, this was just my iPhone. When you play the video in slow motion, you can really see the bat bend on contact. She’s swinging a Ghost.

There was a really good photo floating around of a bat right at contact with a ball. I want to say it was a ghost, college player. The bat looked like it was breaking at the joint! I'm guessing it's all by design. You can even see high speed video of a wood bat, mlb player, making contact and some serious wobble going up and down the bat. Very interesting.

I agree with your design comment. To me, it just seems like a little to much bend. With the build quality of the Ghost bats, that bend is a little suspect.

I believe it is caused by the same function that distorts propellers in pictures. The bat is moving relatively fast and the camera is "scanning" the image from bottom to top, creating the distortion.

This has to be true! A bat can not bend that much. Take a bat and try to bend it.

Well after the game I took her bat and there was some bend at the joint. It wasn’t much but it gave.

It’s funny you bring this up. I watched a clip recently on a guy from I believe it was justbats/bat digest and he was trying to bend a composite Fastpitch bat over his knee. The bat didn’t budge.
He went on to say it’s a marketing ploy bats don’t really flex on contact. Your video says otherwise.

This was a big discussion on a slow pitch forum years ago. It's an optical illusion based on the camera speed. I like to believe that I bend it like beckham but I don't think so .
