Yesterday during my DD batting session she tried a different stride approach. She's been striding to slow even though she starts early. Causing her to be late a large portion of her time. I've told her to speed up, but then she starts to be kind of lungy. Also she has a hard time keeping everything separated until heel drop. So we talked about and I suggested trying a different strategy to her stride. I don't have a video of her doing it, but its exactly like the video below. For my DD she said that it felt comfortable, since its pretty much the same as what she has been doing already just a little quicker. She was able to consistently hit line drives during the session. What your guys thoughts, as should she change or not. I generally leave these things to her, if she is ready to do so?

To me this looks like a no stride approach again. Very similar to how Freeman use to hit. Yes there is a stride by the fact she lifts her foot, weights her back side, but then she just lays her foot down without any weight shift forward. She then coils while shifting her weight forward the same way a no stride type hitter should.

i would agree that its more of a no stride approach.

Always with no stride watch out for all back, all forward. And lack of separation being created. I finally convinced my DD to simply start a little open, lift her foot and place it where it would normally go(square). She's still working on it, but I believe her sequence has improved because of it. She has been no stride for years and too stubborn to try anything else.

I just speaking from experience C.. you know I'm not a pro, :)

Experimenting is good but IMO the issue with your DD's stride wasn't the speed it was the length and the fact that she is reaching a bit with her front leg. I am world's leading expert in these issues.

I assume you mean open stance to closed up again. If that's what your are talking about. My DD has been doing that for a while now. I think thats why she said it felt comfortable, is because it's really similar to what she already has been doing.

I have tried to talk to her about that very thing, but she just does that naturally. No matter the instruction not to.

Yes you are the leading expert in these issues.:D

I feel that if she does go ahead with the change, that would shorten her up some on the stride.
