I heard the slapper is just like the cf8 but a larger sweet spot. Would a non slapper still use this bat?
hmmmmmm. intriguing. maybe I'll snag one and see how DD likes it. She's bordeline ready to move up to a 33" but we don't want the extra weight as she sometimes drops the barrell
Usually, barrel drop is more related to swing mechanics issues than bat weight.
this is true. she doesn't always do it. but any extra weight on the end of the bat and she will. she likes as balanced as she can get. And her hitting coach has her practice with the Heavyswing bats that are handle weighted and she loves the way they feel, says she whips the barrel so fast with one of those.
Do you think getting a cf8 slapper for a regular hitter just to try is a bad idea? kind of cant beat the price
I wouldn't call it a bad idea, but it's not a recommendation I would make. I generally suggest a -11 before the Slapper. IMO, in the long run, your DD will be way better off fixing her swing mechanics than trying to band-aid it with a bat.
oh we aren't band aiding it with a bat. her mechanics are good. I was just saying when she gets sloppy the barrel can drop. thats her one flaw no matter what bat she uses, but it's pretty rare ,we don't rely on the bat to fix it if that makes sense.I was more trying to rationalize getting a lighter bat that she doesn't really need.
She's only ever swung LXT and wants to try a Demarini. I don't really want to shell out full price to "try" something she may not like. If we didn't give the slapper a whirl ...just to check it out, any new bat we get her would be another -10 which is all she's ever swung since age 10 (except for a small trial on an end loaded rocketech which she really didn't care for) Sounds like I'll pass on this it will be too different from what she's used to and therefore a waste of money even if it is on sale
