If you are hosting a skills clinic/camp, please make it longer then 1 1/2 hours. I have no problem with paying additional money but for me to travel 200 miles+ for 1.5hrs of hitting is crazy even for this psycho softball dad !!

Search and find the camps that go for a couple days, realistically what can a kid pick up in a 2 hr camp with a 100 kids and 2 coaches plus players. This winter my daughter did the auburn holiday camp and Tennessee slapper camp, I'd recommend either one if it applies.

I would spend my money on private lessons over those 1hr camps...

I think a lot of summer camps will be for a couple of days.

I was a guest instructor at my DD's college advanced pitching camp. It was 3 days and was 7:00am to 7:00pm. That was most grueling camp I could ever have imagined.
By the last day the girls were dragging their arms. The camp was also limited to about 30 girls and you had to have at least 2yrs of experience.

Huge disadvantage to the girls in the Northeast, school isn't out until the end of June. Impossible for these girls to attend the camps.

So I have to ask - What was the purpose of attending the camp? Were you seeking instruction? Was it for face time with the coach? Something else?

What camps are you going to? Most are in the fall or winter.

DD just did a camp last weekend at a Big 10 school. Most will have one in late June, then another in Dec or Jan.

I wanted her to attend for the experience to be honest, she is a 1999 Freshman who isn't sure what she wants to do with her life, but I felt it was important for her to experience a few camps & clinics this winter in preparation for next year.

There are a few down south she would like to attend, I will have to plan and schedule a few in the fall now knowing what I know. I am still learning about the entire process and I am learning something new everyday.

There are some schools in dd's conference giving camps now. My dd attended a couple at about this time when she was getting recruited and we are in the Midwest.

The other issue here (for Long Islanders) is that it takes over an hour (on a good day) to just get off the island and to the mainland.
