LSU lost to PennSt. & Tulsa
KY lost to Pitt twice.
what's your point?

The only dig against JMU in comparison to some of these other teams is strength of schedule.
JMU certainly on the bubble, at best, to host a regional. But Minnesota? That's a serious snub.

I disagree. Baylor is a very good team this season.
They have the goods to go very far.

The selection committee analyzes strength of schedule as well as top 10 and top 25 wins. From what I have read, Minnesota just didn't have enough wins against top teams and their schedule didn't earn them enough points. Here is the statement from NCAA: https://www.facebook.com/NCAASoftball/photos/a.54231329371.65380.54113984371/10154738003769372/?type=3

The strength of schedule becomes a financial factor for northern schools. How much would MN had to have spent to make the committee happy? They can't hop on a bus and be at a dozen top 25 schools in 3 or 4 hours. And they can't get anyone to come to MN in February now can they? So they can spend a ton of money to go on the road to play a couple series with SEC/PAC-12 schools who have been practicing outside all season in February to make someone on the committee happy?

They have every opportunity to improve their schedule. Michigan played in the Mary Nutter and Judy Garmin against Top 25 teams while Minnesota played in Fresno St's tourney. They both traveled to the west coast but one program got something out of it. They probably spent close to the same amount of money doing it so financial factors are not an issue. Heck Auburn went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to start the year off. The expense and excuse of not being able to practice outside wasn't an excuse for BYU, OU, or Nebraska and I can only imagine the travel cost for Washington.

The bigger travesty will be when Megan Good doesn't win player of the year. While she didn't have the year some others did on the mound, she was still dominant on the mound while also being one of the best hitters in the country.

It's fair to point out that Good did not face a strong schedule, certainly below what SEC teams faced week in, week out. But that simply means you have to be totally dominant, and she was. She faced two SEC teams and shut out each of them, with 10 strikeouts apiece. If she plays really well at the regional, she could be fine.

I don't want to sound contradictory, as I believe Minnesota deserved a top 16 seed, but strength of schedule is very significant. The SEC and Pac 12 are far better this season than the Big 10, ACC and Big 12. It's not even close right now. So if you play the schedule of Minnesota or James Madison (and JM's was weaker than Minnesota's, IMO), you really need to dominate. I think both of them did in their particular cases.

Dost my eyes deceive me??? NCAA Coaches Poll has my Gophers ranked #1??? Ahead of Florida, Oregon, and Florida State??? The coaches, meaning the ones who coach, see that Minnesota is #1, but the NCAA, who sits behind desks and merely watches, thinks the best they can come up with is #17...

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.

... I can only imagine the travel cost for Washington.
Given that Washington was on the road five weekends in a row to start the season and traveled to Puerto Vallarta and then four times to California I am sure it was very significant. They also took a trip to play Alabama during their one weekend off from Pac-12 play. They did those to improve their SOS. They also hosted Minnesota in their Husky Classic tournament and dealt the Gophers two of their three losses. Coach Tarr scheduled as tough as possible to make sure the Huskies had the resume to earn a top 8 seed. If there are teams that want to host, they need to show that they have played the best competition they could possibly play.

Washington doesn't have to budget extra $$$ to travel if they don't want to. They are in the PAC-12. If they didn't travel anywhere, their SOS would not be an issue. MN also has to travel just within the Big 10. IDK who went where, but they could go to Penn State, Rutgers, MD, etc. Problem is traveling there they get no help on SOS and still traveled 700 miles one way.

Hey, the coaches poll just came out too, and the coaches have them at #1.

Obviously there is a disconnect somewhere, and since the seeding committee has them anywhere from say 8 to 16 spots below every other ranking system, I'm gonna just go with the fact that the committee is wrong.
