Is any one else still trying to figure out why Romero did not take off last night to score the tying run? The kid is one who is truly elite and understands the game very well as she has shown for the past two years I have watched her play, just stood there like she was stuck. It blows my mind as I replayed it several times I never once saw a reason for her to just stay did anyone see something I missed that might have cause her to stay? I really hope they rally tonight and cause a game three that should go down as one of the greatest games of all time in WCWS.

There's obviously no guarantee that Michigan ultimately would have won...BUT...there are 2 people to blame for Romero's "you'll get benched at 12U for that" base running gaffe...Romero herself for going brain dead and Hutchins for standing in the 3B coaching box and not saying a word until after the play was over (camera caught her saying "you have to go on that")...

If a coach is not going to say a word as a base coach...then there doesn't need to be a base coach...JMO.

I couldn't believe it. I saw the reaction of the 1B and was wondering why she was so excited. I would be disappointed in that at a 14u level. It looked to me that Florida was conceding the run if hit to SS or 2B.

It was almost thru the middle... Fla couldn't have got her no matter what.

Complete brain freeze. She has to go unless a shot to the 3B or P in my opinion.

Just some food for thought...

The ball was smoked middle...Romero hesitated maybe making sure pitcher did not stab it, or SS did not throw directly home...when SS steps on 2B and spins to throw, even when watching it live, I was thinking of a possible fake throw to 1B or fire home. Yes, a ball hit to SS who attempts a double play should always score a runner from 3B. But with 0 outs and a hesitation, stuff happens.

My thoughts with runners on 3B & 1B with 0 outs...safety squeeze.

She probably froze thinking the pitcher might make the play. Once the brain says, "STOP!" it can be really hard to get going again in a fraction of a second, which is all the time she had.

Definitely a base running error but I can see how it happened. What if the pitcher did make that play and she got thrown out easily at home? That is a more egregious mistake in my opinion.

Keep in mind who was guarding the dish. Aubree Munro is a force to be reckoned with, and is playing with some serious determination to lead her team to another championship. If Romero goes on contact, I'm betting she gets gunned down at the plate by Florida's SS. The ball was hit hard enough to give SS the time to come home. IMO, doubt killed Romero's chances.

Well let me try to put myself in the shoes of an 18 year old girl who is on third in one of the biggest game of her young life........ "DONT SCREW UP, DONT SCREW UP, OH A HIT, DONT SCREW UP. CRAP I SCREWED UP". That bout sums it up....
