OK so I've started coaching my dd's 10u team and i have a left handed girl who makes better contact when she is running at the ball/slapping.My question is on the third strike if she is swinging and not bunting if she fouls it is it a strike like she is bunting...sorry if this is a dumb question just want to be sure

It shouldn't be if she isn't showing bunt. There was a thread in the umpire forum (I think) about when the umps call a bunt. Most of them have seen a slap hitter so they should be able to recognize what she is doing and know it isn't a bunt.

That's crazy OILF. That's the kind of things that will make you lose religion on a softball field! If her bat is moving through the zone...if she is swinging...it shouldn't be called as a bunt. If she is just sticking it out there or trying to drop it at the plate, they'll usually call it. A lot has to do with hand position on a bat as well. If she drops the bat in her hands, they'll call it a lot of times even if she is trying to push it out of there.

We have two or three girls on our team that never get called for it, and alot of the time they are just going to contact and not full swinging. This is at national events as well...

Swinging the bat to contact is not a bunt. A bunt is a pitch that is intentionally tapped with the bat, slowly in the infield.
