Silently waiting

I look at the dugout where dd has been the entire game and the game before. She is standing and waiting for the girls coming off the field while giving out high five to the girls. For someone who struggle with social skills, this makes me smile. She is connecting with the girls...something I haven't seen her do for the year she went to that school. I was really worried about. In an entire year, she never mentioned even having a friend at the school. The teachers even said they never seen her hanging out with another student but was always alone. Even though she did not play, she was excited about the game. DD don't get any pitching practice during school ball practice. So after practice, she practice her pitching. She says she wants to be ready when It is her turn to play.

DD ran into,similar situation. She was the young pitcher with 2 upper class pitchers. Don't think she pitched her freshman season till right before playoffs. But, after the games, when she didn't pitch, she would end up pitching on her own and was ready when the time arose. Hard work pays off.

Sometimes softball is not about softball, its about all the other great things this sport provides. Its nice to hear your story. Its nice to read an uplifting thread too!

Yes it does...good for your daughter.

DD has been taking advantage of the times she does play by doing what she does best.....being her.

Also not much power with the hitting but she leads the team with batting average and on base average.
