What are some of the "unwritten rules" of softball?

I will add an addendum to this for DD's team: If the game was lost expect the meeting to last at least as long as it took to play the actual game

And expect that none of the players will be paying attention after the first minute.

This is one I learned in my first year of coaching. I am always in a better position to see the play than any umpire. My assistant coaches in the dugout are in an even better position than I am, so please keep this in mind when I head out to have a discussion about a call.
