the party's over.
My very special daughter played her last tournament this week. It was bittersweet to say the least. She and her team played ok in pool play but turned it on for the bracket. In yesterday's third game we were down by 4 after one. Slowly we crept back and tied it in the bottom of the sixth. We held them and Boo got up. She'd struck out on a change the last at bat and the girl thought she could go back to the well. DD jacked one over the CF wall. I could not have written it better considering the circumstances. With tons of rain in the forecast I thought that would be her last at bat and what an at bat. This morning it was a gully washer and it looked like the day would be lost and it would be her last at bat. By 9 the rain had stopped so we went to the fields and the crew got them ready for a noon start. We pounded a local rivalry to move in to the semi final against the RI Thunder. Around here, Lotti's team is generally thought highly of. While we didn't win, 2-6 we showed ok, just left too many runners on base. Boo was 2-3 with a walk. Not as dramatic as yesterday but still finished with a positive experience and productive day at Team NJ.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 10 years and wouldn't trade them for the world. I want to thank all those that helped us along in this journey. The list is long but if you look at most of the long time posters you can figure they are probably among the rolls that helped.
To those in the middle or just starting out, enjoy your time. Try to keep in mind it's a game and it's supposed to be fun. Push gently and encourage. I hope you get as much joy an fulfillment as I did.
Boo and teammates at the start of this year's Team NJ tournament. This was a great team and I'll miss all the girls that played. DD cried a bit when they gave her the poster and I had to go for a little walk.
