So my daughter has been diagnosed with "Throwers Shoulder "We live in northern Vermont and not many shoulder specialist around. The Dr.recommened finding a shoulder therapist that deals with just the shoulders so that the therapy is focused on the muscles that need strengthened..I'm a little confused and frustrated at the same time.Has anyone had to deal with this?If so do you have any recommendations? This is absolutely killing my daughter not being able to pitch..Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!Thanks Eric

I'm right here.
No, and I hope the injury is not too serious...and that your DD heals real soon. I've never heard of Throwers Shoulder...is it a rotator cuff issue?

When she is completely healed and healthy you may want to look at her pitching mechanics with a close eye. In all honesty, a pitcher's arm should never be sore after pitching. If she needs to ice after pitching because the arm is sore or hurts...she is doing something mechanically wrong.

The problem with this diagnosis is that "Throwers Shoulder", like "Little League Elbow" is non-specific meaning that there could be a variety of root causes. Living in a rural area is a pain, of course, because you may have to drive a long distance to find an expert, but finding the root cause is really important. It could be something that can be addressed with physical therapy or it could be something more serious like a torn rotator cuff.

I am a little touchy about this because an ortho diagnosed my daughter with Little League Elbow several years ago but I suspect the real problem was a condition called osteochondritis dissecans and I wish I had known about this when she was 12 instead of 16.
